Admiral Bailey is Roots music, Admiral Bailey is power, Admiral Bailey is the sound of Jamaica, love it or not. Vibrant rythms coming from the most famous studios, Baileys chants have taken him to the top of of deejay music.
As an integral part of reggae music (and therefore an expression of culture) deejaying may be compared with a "live" newspaper, or perhaps an urban storyteller, with tales of serious contents sometimes not so serious messages of hope, of resistance, or of love, or events of the day, but often full of humour.
Admiral Bailey adds to and enhances the long tradition in reggae deejaying. Surfacing in the 80´s with U-Roy´s stereograph sound system, amids such deejays as Josey Wales and Charlie Chaplin, he them moved onto Prince Jammy´s set.
His popularity surged with the song "Politician" (a version of Cocoa Tea´s "Come Again") and was released in England as an LP Track late 1986. In 1987 his first official British single "Punnany" released on the Live & Love label, was a huge success, going to the top of the Jamaican & British reggae charts. This was followed by "Big Belly Man" released on Super Power label, and which is featured on his album. His 3rd British single release, the defiantly pulsating "Think Me Did Done" release on Super Power labes is even presently tearing up the dance halls. Admiral Bailey´s innovative style is well presented on this, present days, which the listening public (thats you and me) eagerly welcomes.
